Have you replaced a disk in your Storage Space? Are you on something other than Windows Server, eg: Windows 10 or 11, and therefore have no access to Server Manager? You don’t want to know the status of that rebuild, do you?

You do?

Well then crack open PowerShell and run: Get-StorageJob

That’s it. That’s literally the whole thing. I just saved you a solid hour of wasting your time going over wildly unhelpful Google results and MS docs.

Here’s the doc on it.

Here’s some keywords that might help find this article:

  • How to view Windows Storage Space regeneration job
  • How to view Windows Storage Space rebuild status
  • How to view Windows Storage Space rebuild progress

Also useful: Get-StoragePool

Also, while that rebuild is running you can shut down [gracefully, mind you] and it will pick up where it left off. The job will start at 0%, but the “BytesTotal” value will be the amount that was left to go before shutting down.

Cheers.
